A Retrospective pt I

The bolt veered wide of its intended target, striking a tree mere yards away from a passing townswoman who barely gave it a moments consideration before carrying on.

“Bloody hell” mumbled the old man with the crossbow sitting up on the roof.

“I will get that damn bird someday… Damn maleficar…” he uttered to nobody in particular.

The nobody in particular standing next to him on the roof was a small girl who wore a look of both serene patience and boredom as she waited for him to continue his story.

“Grandpa, you were telling me the story about your bracelet?”

The old man’s attention slowly returned to the moment.

“Ah yes… The bracelet haven’t been able to get it off my arm since I put it on all those years ago which is a shame as I could have sold it for another fortune…”

He paused to collect his thoughts

“Where was I… Ah yes… The blood of the blacksmith was still flowing hotly from the slain blacksmith…”

“Grandpa! You’ve told me about the blacksmith a hundred times!!! I know you and your ‘friends’ went off into the wilds to find the demons where you met that Maleficar of a Mage…”

“Don’t say his name Millicent… His damn birds… His idea of a joke…” The old man shuddered briefly recalling another joke involving a bag of cats.

“Did I get to the part where we rescued the elf maiden’s clan only to realize that the demons had already headed to town to extract there revenge?”

A tired nod was his only answer.

“I know I did not tell you of the fight itself. The town was horribly beset, villagers slaughtered, buildings burned and only myself, the elves, the Maleficar and Gideon stood in between them and utter destruction…”

“I can’t believe you don’t want me to mention the mage’s name, yet you have no trouble mentioning him of all people: The Red Hand of Redcliffe… " interrupted the girl yet again.

“Child, do you wish for me to tell you more of how the fight went? How the terrorist known as Sniper found his bloody inspiration at the hands of a Demon and won his bride? How we eventually went on to cross paths with Caephus the Fallen himself?”

He paused for a moment and reloaded his crossbow, detecting the telltale flutter of wings that only he could seemingly hear anymore.

Damn Maleficar… Him and his ‘jokes’…

Session Two
That wagon is really hard to climb...

Session One
Oh... That wasn't full of water, sorry...

And so it Begins…

A few miles outside of the village of Vintiver, our intrepid (or opportunistic, depending on your view) band of adventurers comes upon the oddly silent Fuldor farm.

Moving in to investigate, the party is beset by what appear to be wolves corrupted by some strange malady.

Making all too short work of the wolves, the party moves in to investigate the farm.

Sniper takes point, sneaking towards the main farmhouse wherein he finds a seen of utter carnage. The entire Fuldor family has been slaughtered by force or forces unknown, quite literally ripped to pieces.

An elvish word is scrawled in blood across the wall, which when translated reads “Child of Vengeance”.

Hearing the sound of some commotion upstairs the party bursts through the upstairs door to find a gravely wounded elf woman on the floor.

Dave throws the contents of a chamber pot on her to awaken her, she awakes with a fright and then passes out.

Gravely concerned about the fate of this woman, the party pauses to loot the belongings of the slaughtered farm family. Of the few interesting pieces found, Dave is particularly attracted to a copper wristband with a strange green stone embedded within.

Finally deciding to take the Elf to get medical aid, the part travels to the village, attracting stares and cold silence as the villagers see the injured elf in the cart, and the uninjured elf ‘Sniper’ in the party.

Making their way to the Chantry, the party enlists the aid of Venknar, a wry old man they erringly believe to be a Chantry priest.

While Venknar tends to the elf, a small mob of angry villagers approach, led by the village blacksmith demanding that the elf maiden be turned over to them as they believe she was involved in the slaughter at the farm.

Utilizing a unique form of diplomacy, Gideon takes it upon himself to slaughter the Blacksmith, the raging mob is pushed back by the arrival of Tarl Dale, the Village Warden.

The Story So Far...
The Cast

The Party

Three travellers with very different backgrounds converge upon the small village of Vintiver at a very inopportune moment.

Dave, a Freeman Rogue with a penchant for being able to sell anything that isn’t nailed down… And to get some bids on things that still are.

A city elf known only as ‘Sniper’, a city-elf with a mysterious past and an unclear future lends his bow to the party’s needs.

Finally, Gideon, a self proclaimed noble warrior of questionable lineage brings both skill at arms and a mule-cart to the table.
